Avant Garde Computer Services (AGCS), Inc. is a computer consulting firm specializing in information security, networking, and database management. The company was founded in 1984 by a unique and talented association of security and software engineering professionals to provide leading-edge technology solutions for business, commercial and government applications.
The AGCS staff directly influenced the future of computer security by helping develop the Department of Defense guidelines for information security, Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria (a.k.a., "The Orange Book"), and its counterpart for networked systems, Trusted Network Interpretation.
AGCS balances its security and software engineering skills with a staff fully experienced in software process improvement. The Air Force awarded the first 8(a) contract to conduct software capability evaluations for both Air Force and Army acquisitions to AGCS.
AGCS provides programming, database design and queries, and UNIX system administration and support to the United States Navy Controller Division at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire.
